Experience

I am a full-time engineer for the US Navy moonlighting as a graduate student in computer science at Georgia Tech MS through a distance-learning program. I am deeply interested in mathematics, machine learning, and computer vision. My side projects include machine learning competitions, software libraries for unsupervised learning and signal processing, and automated chess endgame puzzle generation.

Key Skills: Python (OpenCV, Numpy/Scipy, Django, Flask), Matlab, Java (Android & WEKA), Javascript, HTML5, CSS, C; SQLite, Postgresql, GAE Datastore (NoSQL); git

Work History

Systems Engineer, US Navy (Civil Service)

2012—Present

  • • Managed all Navy technical data packages (requirements, specifications, drawings, etc.) and engineering functions (product development, configuration management, engineering investigations, risk management) for three rocket motors and four guided weapons systems
  • • Provided statistical analysis of MK-117 rocket motor propellant formulation and production to resolve an engineering investigation and resume production after a five year delay
  • • Led development, production, and demonstration of a fixed-wing APKWS II guided rocket variant in a Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD) with the USAF

Operations Research Analyst, US Navy (Civil Service)

2008—2012

  • • Developed software (C#, Matlab, FORTRAN, and shell scripts) for predictive modeling of Navy weapons systems using response surface methods, numerical analysis, and stochastic modeling (Monte Carlo simulations) techniques
  • • Conducted future weapon system requirements planning and evaluation by designing and conducting factor screening and sensitivity analysis experiments on warfare simulation models using FORTRAN and Matlab
  • • Built a sympathetic detonation model in CTH to simulate insensitive munitions characteristics for GP bombs
